About Eric

Born and raised in Minot.
Ready to serve.

Eric Locken isn't a newcomer to Minot — he's a product of it. Born and raised here, with family roots in North Dakota stretching back over a century, Eric has watched this city grow, face challenges, and push forward. Now he wants to help shape what Minot becomes for the next generation.

As an electrical technician, Eric brings a practical, problem-solving mindset to everything he takes on. He believes good decisions come from listening first, understanding the full picture, and doing what's right for people — not what's politically easy.

His vision is simple: a Minot where people don't just end up — they choose to stay, raise their families, and build their futures.

"I want to help direct Minot to be a place others would also want their families to live for multiple generations."

Platform

What Eric stands for

Three clear priorities — grounded in what Minot residents actually need, not political talking points.

Priority 1

Availability & Approachability

Eric has no set schedule — because he doesn't believe your city council member should be hard to reach. He's out at community events, sporting events, and neighborhood gatherings. If you see him, stop him. He genuinely means it.

Priority 2

Responsible Budgeting

Tough budget decisions are coming to Minot, and Eric will make sure those cuts don't fall hardest on people who can least afford it. Essential public services — the library, public transportation, community programs — are non-negotiable.

Priority 3

Flood Protection — Now

Minot has been working on flood protection for 15 years. At the current pace, it'll be 15 more. A 30-year project doesn't make residents feel safe. Eric will be a consistent, urgent voice for faster and more efficient progress on this critical infrastructure.

Community

Showing up is what he does

Eric doesn't belong to a single organization or charity — he belongs to all of them. Raising money to put new books in kids' hands. Hosting chili cook-offs to build Thanksgiving baskets for families in need. Running a food pantry out of his own front yard. Driving across the country to help people in other states when disaster strikes.

There's no checklist or agenda behind it. If people need help and Eric can give it, he shows up. That's the same instinct he'll bring to City Hall.

"If there are people in need or just asking for help, you can count on Eric to be the one to show up."
